Watchmen release date: October 20

Watchmen is the first big huge show that HBO has released since the mighty Game of Thrones ended. The new show will follow a band of superheroes who live in an alternate reality where their powers are outlawed and condemned. The stories of the series happen 30 years after the graphic novel of the same name. Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson and Regina King all star in the series, with Lost co-creator David Lindelof on showrunner duties. There will be some twists and turns and probably an unsolved mystery or two.

Watchmen will begin showing for UK viewers on channel Sky Atlantic on Monday 21st October at 9pm, a similar time for previous series including Game of Thrones and Westworld.

The American showing will run late on Sunday 20th October, which for us in the UK is early morning.
